POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
ル・キャバレ
The Yamagata beef steak frites is memorable for its generous cut of meat and plentiful potatoes. This bistro in Motoyoyogicho also serves dishes such as burrata with figs and mussels, best enjoyed with wine.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Some diners come to Le Cabaret for its Yamagata beef steak frites. The steak is seared on the outside, and visitors have described it as thick, tender and full of flavour. The generous portion of potatoes has also won praise, with one diner enjoying their crisp, fluffy texture and just-right seasoning. It makes a satisfying centrepiece for dinner, with plenty of potatoes to share around the table, too.
For a starter, try the combination of burrata and figs. One visitor who came while figs were in season enjoyed them with bread and aged Basque pork ham. Another noted how well the burrata’s simple dressing of olive oil, salt and pepper went with a drink. The menu appears to change with the seasons, so choosing a starter from the day’s blackboard is part of the appeal.
The Mont-Saint-Michel mussels marinière is another dish that has made an impression. One diner said the generous serving was so good that it changed their mind about mussels, which they had previously disliked. Carpaccio or a fish dish could also offer a change of direction from the meat courses.
Some visitors have enjoyed pairing the food with wine, including one who described sharing their preferences and receiving a glass recommendation. Diners have found the portions well suited to sharing, though how filling the meal is will depend on the group and what they order. Some also look forward to the pudding after dinner. Dinner reservations are available and recommended.
